Hello! My name is Danielle Parsons and I am a PhD student in the Carstens lab at the Ohio State University. I joined the Carstens Lab in the Fall of 2018 after completing my Bachelor's degree at the University of New Mexico where I worked at the Museum of Southwestern Biology under Dr. Joe Cook. My dissertation project aims to identify large-scale patterns of cryptic diversity in mammals and investigate the evolutionary and ecological processes responsible for generating and maintaining this diversity through examination of North American water shrews, a species complex of small cryptic mammals.

About me

My main interests include: natural history collections, integrative taxonomy, data repurposing, shrews, machine learning, cryptic species, outreach and education
